Cutting through the Jargon
Some sites will babble on indefinitely without once
considering that their readers may not have a total understanding of
the specialised terminology used by them.
New definitions of terms will be added to this section of our site as
time goes on.
Definitions of Terms:
Feature Creep
is the common tendency for a project's specifications
and complexity to increase well beyond what was originally planned and
thus result in substantial additional costs unless regulated by a
contract.
Keyword Analysis
is the process of determining which keywords would be potentially most productive
for any given web site if web promotion were to be carried out.
Keyword Densities
are merely the percentages in which a keyword or phrase will be tolerated
by the major search engines without being considered as Spamdexing (See right).
Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI)
was recently adopted by Google as a means of determining the overall relevance
of a web page to a given search term by checking for the presence of related
words within its text.
If the keyword in question were "football" for instance, the
search engine would look for the presence of such words as "player", "pitch",
"stadium" and others to ensure that the document was actually
about football instead of another random topic.

More Definitions
SEO Copywriting
is an abbreviation of Search Engine Optimised Copywriting.
Quite simply it is a technique of creating text with the right keyword
densities in order to provide the best possible chance for a web
page to be ranked well in a search engine's results.
Spamdexing
is to unethically or dishonestly modify a web page so as to raise its chances
of obtaining a top position in a search engine's listings without having any
actual relevance to the term which is searched for.
Third-Party Proofreading
Since it is practically impossible to proofread your work objectively,
as you will almost always read what you expect to find, rather than
what is written, all finished work is delivered to an outside proofreader
for final checking and corrections. |
