SEO Copywriting; Going with the flow
In the SEO Copywriting industry, you can find any
number of operators claiming to know the ins and outs of success, but
failing to consider their readers for even an instant.
SEO Copywriting Standards
Authoring according to some glorified search engine
keyword density formula, they spend their working lives producing content
which may help search engine rankings, but certainly does nothing whatsoever
for human readers.
Consequently, the market sector as a whole is rapidly
gaining a reputation as being a playground for semi-competent hacks unable
to produce worthwhile editorial.
And yet, many clients still seem quite happy to pay substantial fees
for web site content which seems to be written with the sole intent
of boring the reader to tears.
Whilst there is no doubt that successful SEO Copywriting for commercial
web sites must pander to the search engines and their greed for keyword-rich
page text, there is absolutely no excuse to ignore a site’s human
visitors in the vain hope that they’ll put up with unreadable trash
and make a purchase anyway.
The truth is that if a visitor is confronted with badly written copy,
they are most likely to reach for their ‘Back’ button and satisfy
their query elsewhere.

Times have changed since the early days
I remember when I first became part of the whole internet revolution and
consequently SEO Copywriting (amongst others) during the mid 1990s.
Things were easy then; anyone with a half decent site could make a living
from internet commerce.
But times they do change; whilst there were only a handful of commercial
web sites on the net up until 1998 or 1999, there are literally millions
now, all jostling for ranking positions and customers.
The internet has become the busiest commercial arena on the planet and competition
is fierce in all but the most obscure market sectors.
Why then do online business owners persistently stand for second-rate
copy which only serves to frustrate the very individuals they are trying
to attract?
Unless entrepreneurs and companies demand a higher standard of work from
their SEO Copywriting providers, little is likely to change apart from
a gradual deterioration of profits.
